Citadel and MAGNUS merge to create Citadel-MAGNUS

Two of Australia’s leading corporate and financial communication firms, Citadel and MAGNUS, have today signed a Merger Agreement, creating the largest independent corporate and financial communication firm in Australia.

The merger combines the strengths and experience of two of Australia’s leading corporate and financial communication firms, while retaining their independence and continuity of leadership through the founders: Martin Debelle, Peter Brookes, John Gardner and Helen McCombie.

The new firm, Citadel-MAGNUS, will have combined annual revenue of circa A$7 million and a team of 20 professionals. Citadel-MAGNUS will continue to service clients from offices in Sydney and Perth, with the benefit of deeper experience and team capacity across the group.

Since the founding of the respective businesses, Citadel (est. 2008) and MAGNUS (est. 2009) have provided communication and media strategy to more than A$100 billion worth of corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, asset sales and capital raisings.

Practice areas for the combined group include media and investor relations, corporate communication, issues and crisis management, media and presentation training, government relations and corporate brand positioning.

Executive Chairman for the Citadel-MAGNUS group, Martin Debelle, said the merger has followed 18 months of discussions between both parties and a thorough due diligence process.

“Both Citadel and MAGNUS have established outstanding teams and reputations since their respective inceptions, which is reflected in the quality of clients both companies have advised over the past six or more years,” said Mr Debelle.

MAGNUS founder, John Gardner, said: “We believe this merger will immediately provide our clients with an unprecedented depth of professional experience and capability to continue to service their needs and achieve their corporate objectives through outstanding strategic communication advice.

“We are excited by the opportunity this merged business provides and look forward to further growth in the future,” Mr Gardner concluded.

The Sydney office of Citadel-MAGNUS will be managed by Peter Brookes and the Perth office by John Gardner, while Helen McCombie will assume the role of Executive Director.

The Citadel-MAGNUS combined senior team also includes Garry Nickson, Matthew Gerber, Rupert Dearden and Matthew Gregorowski.

Citadel-MAGNUS is a partner of PROI Worldwide, providing the merged group with international reach through the world’s largest partnership of independent public relations firms.
